Open Day is usually a biennial event which is jointly hosted by The Open University, OUSA and the O U Alumni. It usually takes place on the Walton Hall campus in June and the next one is likely to be held in June 2011. Many students and potential students interested in studying with the University, travel from all over the UK, and even Europe, to attend the event and to see for themselves what is on offer.

OUSA is always glad of extra volunteers to help out with the OUSA stalls or to talk to students and potential students, while student groups from across the regions attend just for the fun of it.

In addition, OUSA use this event to raise funds for its registered charity, OUSET. This is a fun day out with something for every member of the family, no matter what their age.

The last one called ‘Open Unlimited’ was held on Saturday 27 June 2009 which coincided with the University’s 40th anniversary. It was a great success with over 4000 visitors attending on the day. It was an opportunity for visitors, including staff, family and friends, to tour aspects of Milton Keynes campus and see both highlights from the four decades of our history and how we intend to face the challenges of the 21st century.

OUSA, some of its affiliated Societies and the Disabled Students Group took part in the activities and we were all pleased that we contributed towards this successful event.
