Toggling the correct header and footer

The OU header and footer process has been dramatically simplified. There is now a single server side include for the header and another one for the footer.

CSS is used to change how the header and footer look.

Information architecture (IA)

Use body class elements to make sure your site displays the correct view of the header and footer. Your site should align to one of the six main areas of the OU web site. Contact Online Services if you're not sure which one your site belongs to. Using one of the following classes will mean that your site highlights the correct link in the OU header and the correct links are displayed in the OU footer.

  1. <body class="ou-ia-home>
  2. <body class="ou-ia-study">
  3. <body class="ou-ia-learning">
  4. <body class="ou-ia-research">
  5. <body class="ou-ia-community">
  6. <body class="ou-ia-about">

Footer on white background with dividing line

You can also chose to add <body class="ou-blend"> element to use an alternative, simplified treatment. This class will remove the blue gradient background and place a horizontal line to separate the footer from the main content. This is the footer you see on Study at the OU.
